Job Summary
As a Business Development Associate, you will play a key role in acquiring and engaging the right set of partners (distributors, dealers, retailers) and initially guiding them to grow on/ with the platform.
Major Tasks & Responsibilities
- Own and execute the growth plan for B2B partnerships across the city/ region.
- Responsible for identifying, prioritizing, acquiring, and onboarding new merchants/ partners to the eCommerce platform.
- Map out the key - high potential merchant in each category/ city/ region (basis market knowledge and research) and formulate a specific acquisition strategy.
- Drive & manage the partnerships from cold contact to acquisition.
- Collaborate with internal teams for support in onboarding the merchants and driving their success.
- Work as an ambassador to pitch the capability and potential of the platform to key clients and brands, to forge a long-term partnership with them.
- Be the voice of local merchants/ partners/ brands in the company, and work closely with them along with internal stakeholders to keep a track of their growth on the platform and work closely with them to ensure success.
- Reporting: Create daily/ weekly progress on the merchant acquisition targets.
The Ideal Candidate
- An entrepreneurial spirit and passion for building things ground up.
- Must showcase the ability to build long-lasting relationships with clients and key partners.
- 2-5 years of experience in business development in the retail industry or FMCG/ consumer durable brands.
- Good understanding of the merchant landscape and existing relationships with key brands/ merchants will be an advantage.
- Prior experience in B2B/institutional sales or client management.
- Good communication and sales skills.
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt and gain expertise in a new industry (e-commerce).
- Proficient in English and Arabic/ Kurdish language.
