Assistant Chef

a. As the second in command in the kitchen, the assistant chef must know how to prepare all menu items just as well as the chef does.
b. Assistant chef will work closely with the chef and listen to and take action any guidance provided by the chef.
c. Assistant chef must be open to working with the chef to provide delicious meals
d. Assistant chef must prep enough meal items for easy recipe preparation
e. Assistant chef must be able to bake, using the exact recipe/method, once taught
f. Assistant chef must have an open mind – listen to and follow instructions.
g. Assistant chef must be in a clean uniform and present him/herself in a decent and tidy manner; representative of restaurant.
h. Ensure appealing plate presentation
i. Assist with daily inventory.
j. With the assistance of the chef, monitor food stock against orders placed on a daily basis.
k. Ensure each packaged food is tagged and labeled with the correct expiration dates.
l. With the assistance of chef and manager, check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
m. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
n. Ensure compliance with government food regulations
o. Ensure a proper hand-off is conducted with your replacement, prior to the completion of each shift
p. Ensure the kitchen is kept in a sanitary manner at all times
q. Ensure kitchen area is cleaned at the end of your shift and trash is discarded at end of shift and prior to closing.
r. Excellent time management skills.
s. Paid vacation after six complete months of employment.
t. Bonus after one year of employment
u. Position requires you to live in the location and return home every six months. Housing accommodations, transportation and meals provided.
