Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, motors, generators, transformers, control panels, and wiring.
- Maintain and repair rig equipment such as top drives, SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) systems, VFD (Variable Frequency Drives), drilling consoles, and power distribution systems.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Installation and Upgrades:
- Install all electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
- Ensure proper wiring and configuration of new and upgraded electrical components.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow and enforce all electrical safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections and identify potential electrical hazards.
- Use proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when working on electrical systems.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Use electrical testing equipment to diagnose and repair faults in circuits and control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to resolve issues effectively.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Report any issues, defects, or completed work to supervisors and rig management.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with mechanics, drillers, and rig supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Assist senior electricians in executing electrical projects and complex repairs.
- During the operations if no mechanical or maintenance interventions are required , he will be proactive and will be involved in Drilling / WO’s activity as requested by Rig Manager
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Electrical trade certification or journeyman license (preferred).
- Certifications in electrical systems, such as VFDs, SCR systems, or industrial electrical maintenance (a plus).
- H2S or other safety certifications (preferred).
- TTs trainings / Certificates
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as an electrician, preferably in the oil and gas drilling industry.
- Familiarity with rig-specific electrical systems and power distribution networks.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and control circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Understanding of electrical safety regulations and best practices.
- Communication skills – English - Mandatory
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on drilling rigs in onshore locations.
- Exposure to loud machinery, electrical hazards, and extreme weather conditions.
- Rotational shift work, including night shifts and extended schedules.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment (20 + kg ).
- Comfortable performing tasks that require physical endurance and manual dexterity.
