Key Responsibilities:
- Drilling Operations:
- Operate and control the drilling rig, ensuring adherence to drilling plans and procedures.
- Monitor drilling parameters such as weight on bit, mud pressure, and torque to maintain optimal performance.
- Adjust drilling techniques as necessary to accommodate changes in downhole conditions.
- Ensure proper tripping in and out procedures to prevent well control issues.
- Well Control and Safety Compliance:
- Maintain well control by monitoring fluid levels, pressure, and blowout prevention systems.
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety standards.
- Attend safety meetings, toolbox talks, and participate in emergency drills.
- Properly use and maintain well control equipment, including blowout preventers (BOPs).
- Crew Leadership and Supervision:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the drilling crew, including As.Drillers , Derrickmans, Floormans , Roustabouts .
- Provide training and guidance to crew members to ensure tasks are performed safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with the Toolpusher, Rig Manager, and other rig personnel.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Ensure the proper functioning of drilling equipment, including the drawworks, top drive, mud pumps, and rotary table.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions to the Rig maintenance team.
- Work with mechanics and electricians to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate drilling logs and records of operational activities.
- Report any incidents, equipment failures, or safety concerns to the Toolpusher or Rig Manager.
- Ensure drilling operations are recorded in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the Rig Manager, Toolpusher, and other department heads to ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate with third-party service providers ( mud engineers, TRS ,Fishing, etc.) as needed.
- Participate in pre-job planning and after-action reviews to improve performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Well Control Certification (IWCF or IADC) – Required. If not , IWCF will be on Company duty and cost.
- H2S Safety, First Aid, and Firefighting certifications (preferred).
- TTs trainings
- Experience:
- 5+ years of drilling experience, with at least 2 years on Cyber Rigs or TTs Rigs .
- Strong knowledge of drilling operations, well control procedures, and rig equipment.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in monitoring and adjusting drilling parameters.
- Knowledge of rig safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret drilling programs and technical documents.
- Communication skills – English-Mandatory
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on drilling rigs in Onshore locations, often under extreme weather conditions.
- Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and physically demanding tasks.
- Rotational shifts and extended work hours required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work long hours in physically demanding environments.
- Capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment (20 + kg).
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
