Purpose of the Role
To safely and efficiently operate rig cranes for lifting, moving, and positioning equipment, materials, and supplies while ensuring compliance with company QHSE, IMS, and ISO/API standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate cranes in accordance with approved lift plans, manufacturer guidelines, and company procedures.
- Ensure all lifting operations are conducted within crane load limits and prevailing site conditions.
- Supervise banksmen, slingers, and lifting crews to ensure safe rigging and lifting practices.
- Conduct daily inspections, pre-use checks, and basic maintenance of crane equipment.
- Maintain lift records, inspection checklists, and operational documentation.
- Monitor crane condition and report defects, hazards, incidents, or non-conformities immediately.
- Coordinate lifting activities with drilling, logistics, maintenance, and other site personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings, emergency drills, and HSE initiatives.
Authority
- Stop any lifting operation that presents a safety, environmental, or operational risk.
- Direct and supervise lifting crews during crane operations.
- Declare equipment unfit for service if critical defects are identified and report for maintenance.
Qualifications
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Crane Operator License appropriate for equipment capacity.
- API RP 2D or equivalent Crane Operations certification.
- Certifications in H2S, Fire Fighting, Banksman/Slinger, Hazard Recognition, Defensive Driving, and relevant oilfield safety training.
- Minimum 6 years of crane operating experience, preferably in oil & gas drilling or workover operations.
- Good English communication skills; Arabic preferred.
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, load calculations, rigging practices, and crane safety.
