Purpose of the Role
To lead, implement, and continuously improve the site Health, Safety, Environment, and Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with company requirements, client standards, Iraqi regulations, and ISO/API standards while promoting a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain the site HSE Management System in compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and API Q2 requirements.
- Develop, review, and implement HSE plans, procedures, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
- Conduct audits, inspections, safety observations, and compliance monitoring activities.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor HSE performance, analyze trends, and prepare management reports and KPI dashboards.
- Manage contractor HSE compliance and conduct contractor audits and performance reviews.
- Deliver HSE training, coaching, inductions, and awareness programs.
- Support emergency preparedness, drills, and response activities.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, leadership engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Authority
- Stop any operation presenting an immediate risk to personnel, the environment, or company assets.
- Enforce compliance with HSE requirements and deny access to non-compliant personnel.
- Issue corrective actions and require implementation by employees and contractors.
- Escalate critical HSE concerns directly to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 6–8 years of HSE experience in oil & gas, including at least 3 years in a senior supervisory role.
- NEBOSH Diploma, CSP, or equivalent professional certification.
- Certifications in Well Control, H2S, Emergency Response, and ISO 45001/14001 Internal Auditing.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, API Q2, and Iraqi HSE regulations.
- Excellent leadership, investigation, risk assessment, and communication skills.
- Fluent English required; Arabic preferred.
