Responsibilities and tasks

• Reviewing products and contracts to ensure their compliance with Sharia provisions, documenting observations, and submitting them to the Central Bank of Iraq and the Sharia Supervisory Board.
• Following up on the implementation of decisions and instructions issued by the Central Bank of Iraq and ensuring that the relevant departments in the bank adhere to them.
• Preparing periodic reports that illustrate the level of Sharia compliance in the bank and submitting them to the Central Bank of Iraq, senior management, and the supervisory board.
• Participating in the development of banking products and services to ensure their compliance with Islamic Sharia.
• Organizing training workshops and awareness seminars for employees about Sharia provisions related to banking operations.
• Conducting internal Sharia audits on various banking operations, following up on observations, and correcting any Sharia deviations if found.
• Managing the department's team, distributing tasks, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of performance.
• Communicating with regulatory bodies such as the Central Bank of Iraq regarding Sharia compliance upon request.
• Maintaining records and reports of Sharia audits, and correspondence with the Sharia Supervisory Board.
• Proposing corrective actions in case of Sharia deviations and following up on their implementation

Requirements 

• Must hold a bachelor's in financial managements or any relevant field.
• Must have completed several courses in the field of Sharia compliance or auditing, inside or outside Iraq, totaling at least 75 training hours, and must hold a certified specialization certificate such as CSAA (Certified Sharia Auditor and Advisor), CIFE (Certified Islamic Finance Executive), Shari’ah Compliance & Audit, or IFQ (Islamic Finance Qualification), or any other relevant certifications.
• Must have at least 5 years of banking experience in the field of Sharia supervision or compliance in Islamic banks, with a good command of the English language.
• Must be familiar with the systems and instructions of the Central Bank of Iraq.
• Must have knowledge of Islamic banking products and services.
