Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, motors, generators, transformers, control panels, and wiring.
- Maintain and repair rig-specific equipment, including top drives, SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) systems, VFD (Variable Frequency Drives), power distribution systems and PLC system
- Perform preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment to minimize breakdowns.
- Installation and Upgrades:
- Oversee the installation of electrical systems and ensure proper configuration of power distribution and control systems.
- During Rig -Up/Rig-Down connect/disconnect Rig PLC system , setup Rig parameters and ensure proper PLC functionality
- Recommend and implement upgrades to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical work complies with company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections of electrical systems and equipment to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices among team members.
- Supervision and Training:
- Lead and supervise electricians and other maintenance personnel in electrical tasks.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Delegate tasks effectively and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
- Use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and resolve electrical malfunctions.
- Perform testing on electrical systems to ensure proper operation and functionality.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
- Prepare reports for supervisors on Electrical/Hydraulic/Mechanical equipment status, completed tasks, and system upgrades.
- Ensure accurate inventory of electrical tools, parts, and consumables.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with Rig managers, mechanics, and drilling crews to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide technical input during rig moves, upgrades, and operational changes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Electrical trade certification or journeyman license (required).
- Advanced certifications in electrical systems, including VFDs, SCR systems, and high-voltage systems (preferred).
- H2S or other safety certifications (preferred).
- TTs trainings / certificates
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as an electrician in the oil and gas drilling industry.
- Proven expertise in rig-specific electrical systems, including top drives, draw works, power and PLC Systems (Cyber Rigs).
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage, low-voltage, and PLC control systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards.
- Communication skills – English - Mandatory
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on drilling rigs, onshore locations.
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, and heavy equipment.
- May require working extended shifts and rotational schedules.
- 24/7 On-call , at Rig site , availability to address urgent repairs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment (20 kg ).
- Comfortable performing tasks that require physical endurance and manual dexterity.
