Key Responsibilities:
- Drilling Operations Support:
- Assist the Driller in operating and controlling the drilling rig according to the drilling plan.
- Monitor drilling parameters such as weight on bit, mud pressure, and torque.
- Ensure proper tripping procedures are followed to prevent well control issues.
- Assist in implementing changes in drilling techniques as required by downhole conditions.
- Operate Handling equipment along with the drilling crew , Operate the Catwalk machine
- Well Control and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure well control procedures are followed, including monitoring fluid levels and maintaining well pressure.
- Assist in operating and maintaining blowout preventers (BOPs) and other well control equipment.
- Conduct safety checks, participate in drills, and enforce company safety policies.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the work environment.
- Crew Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise drilling crew members, including Derrickmans, Floormans , Roustabouts .
- Train and mentor junior crew members to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely according to operational procedures.
- Act as the Driller in their absence, assuming responsibility for rig operations.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Monitor the condition of rig equipment, including drawworks, rotary table, top drive, mud pumps , IronRoughneck .
- Coordinate with rig mechanics and electricians to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and storage of tools and drilling equipment.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Report any operational issues, safety incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the Driller or Toolpusher.
- Assist in compiling daily drilling reports and communicating key information to the rig management team.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Work closely with the Driller, Toolpusher , Rig Manager, and other department heads to ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate with third-party service providers, such as mud engineers , TRS , Fishing , etc.
- Participate in pre-job planning and post-job reviews to optimize drilling performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Well Control Certification (IWCF or IADC) – Required. . If not , IWCF will be on Company duty and cost .
- H2S Safety, First Aid, and Firefighting certifications (preferred).
- TTs trainings / Certificates
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in drilling operations with same role as As.Driller.
- Strong understanding of drilling techniques, rig equipment, and well control procedures.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and crew management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in monitoring drilling parameters and adjusting operations as needed.
- Knowledge of rig safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret drilling programs and technical manuals.
- Communication skills – English - Mandatory
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on drilling rigs in Onshore locations, often under extreme weather conditions.
- Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and physically demanding tasks.
- Rotational shifts and extended work hours required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work long hours in physically demanding environments.
- Capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment (20 + kg).
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
